FAQs

Why does the website state 6pm if the start time is dependent on sunset?

I only hold one session per day and 6pm is the daily placeholder on my schedule. To get the best quality images, we will meet ONE HOUR BEFORE SUNSET.

Are your Sessions really an hour?

Sessions will last up to an hour. I work efficiently with children and in cold weather to get a complete gallery as quickly as possible.

What is your cancellation policy?

Payment is due IN FULL at the time of booking to reserve your date and time. If a session needs to be rescheduled for any reason, your payment will be applied toward the rescheduled session. Any cancellation will result in forfeit of a $50 deposit.

Why is there a $50 non-refundable deposit?

Cancellations are a challenging part of my small business. The non-refundable deposit is in place to ensure fairness to all clients and to cover the administrative costs associated with scheduling.

Are the images included in the package fee?

The package fee includes BOTH the session and the online gallery of edited images.

How long does it take to receive the images?

Typically 1 week; often less than that.

When will I know if my Session needs to be rescheduled due to weather?

I will let you know on the morning of the Session if will need to reschedule due to inclement weather (rain, snow, high winds or haze from fires).

If my session is cancelled due to weather, how do I reschedule?

To reschedule a Session, you reserve a new date on my schedule. There is a ‘pay in person’ option.

Do you offer mini sessions?

I only offer Mini Sessions once a year. My Holiday Minis are held in one location for one weekend at the end of November.

Will you provide location suggestions for my Session?

I will provide options for a variety of backgrounds for you to chose from the day before your scheduled session.

Can I request a background I see on your website?

You can send me a screenshot and I will let you know if that location is available. I typically shoot in public locations but at times I shoot on a client’s private property.

How early do I need to book my Fall Photo Session?

My Fall photo schedule begins to fill in July.

When should I schedule my Fall Photo Session?

Typically, the red maple leaves start to change around Labor Day and the yellow aspens start to change in late September/early October and last until the first moderate snowfall.

What should we wear to our Family Session?

To produce a cohesive family photo, I recommend the THREE COLORS RULE. Pick three colors, two colors being neutral (denim, white, grey, navy, khaki or beige) and one color of your choice and put together outfits with those colors. Colors that POP in images include red, yellow, pink and maroon.

What should we avoid wearing to our Family Session?

Solids and simple patterns are preferred. Do not mix too many patterns together. Avoid bold stripes, busy floral patterns and shirts with writing on them.

What should I wear to my Senior Boy Session?

I recommend two different looks for your Session, one dressy and one casual. A long sleeve button down is versatile. You can tuck it in with a belt, wear it unbuttoned with a colorful t-shirt underneath and roll up the sleeves. Polo shirts and lightweight sweaters are good choices. You can show your personality and interests with team jerseys, sentimental T-shirts and college gear.

What should I wear for my Senior Girl Session?

I recommend two different looks for your Session, one dressy and one casual. Play up your assets and show your personality and individuality. A flowy skirt or dress will look light and whimsical in images. A nice pair of jeans is a good option and a pair of tall boots will make your legs look long and lean.. Choose clothes that fit well and avoid clothes that are too baggy or too tight. Layers should not be bulky. Sandals are better than flip flops to walk in the tall grass. Hands and feet are often visible in photographs.

Does the location affect what I should wear to my Session?

Be sure to dress for the location and weather of the session. Boots and closed toed shoes are a safe bet in a natural setting. In the winter, bring extra layers. Hats, gloves and scarves provide warmth and add fun to your winter photos.

When do I book my Newborn Session?

It is best to hold your Newborn Session when your baby is between 4 and 10 days old. You should contact me before the baby arrives to let me know your expected due date. Once the baby arrives, you will contact me to set up the session in the 4-10 day window.

What do I need to do to prepare for my in-home Newborn Session?

I have a traveling studio and will bring everything needed for the Newborn  Session. You will select your color palate in advance. You choose cool tones (whites/grays) or warm tones (creams/beiges) and then any accent color you would like (pink, peach, purple, yellow, brown, blue, sage or mint).
